What is Aberystwyth like?
Aberystwyth (or Aber as it is known locally) is a beautiful University town on the mid-Wales coast overlooking Cardigan Bay.
It’s local population of around 18,000 is boosted by an additional 7,000 students during term time.
The usual chain stores are inter-dispersed with local, independent businesses. The town has loads of pubs, coffee shops and restaurants to keep you well refreshed during the weekend.
Many of the local pubs stay open until late on the Friday & Saturday as well as the legendary Pier Pressure nightclub.
All the venues in town are concentrated in one part of Aber – a section of the seafront from the Old College down to the bandstand. These are all within 10 minutes walk of each other along the beautiful promenade.
There is a secondary hub of venues up at Aberystwyth Arts Centre on the University Campus – a 5 minute taxi ride or 30 minute walk up Penglais Hill.
