What Are We Doing? (Work in Progress)

Welsh rising stars Mel Owen and Caryl Burke ask each other: What Are We Doing? Mel and Caryl share the show with half an hour each of their work in progress material. The pair have lots in common: they’re Welsh (obviously), they are 30ish (one just below and one just above, don’t guess which is which) and – most importantly – neither of them particularly know what they are doing (in their personal lives, in their professions, and maybe even on the night).

Mel, dubbed ‘Wales most exciting new act’ returns to Aberystwyth Comedy Festival after a sell-out show in 2023 and at Machynlleth earlier in 2024. She has numerous competition wins under her belt, and was recently featured at the Netflix Is A Joke comedy festival.

Caryl’s storytelling and hints of sarcasm have led her to play at venues across the UK including the famous Frog & Bucket and the Comedy Store. In 2023 she was chosen as one of Leicester Comedy Festival’s Circuit Breakers.
