Artist Development Programme – Channel 4 Showcase

This show is from a previous year's festival
Join us for the grand finale of the Artist Development Programme! These three artists first presented their work at Machynlleth Comedy Festival 2024. They have been working with mentors and developing their work to showcase in Aberystwyth!
Currently using the working title Morris Milk, Carwyn Blayney (A So You Think You’re Funny? Finalist, Tour Support for Elis James and credits on BBC Radio Four) will be presenting scenes from a sitcom. Mervin Morris is the latest in a long line of milkmen, in a town where the milkmen once ruled the roost.
With their aprons waving in the wind like a superhero’s cape, they were more than just respected, they were worshipped. But the world is different now. Convenience is more important than community. With supermarkets delivering to your door, and apps to order food on bikes, how can Morris Milk keep up?
Caryl Burke together with Carwyn will present If you don’t laugh, you’ll die, a work in progress sketch that puts the fun in funeral. Learn about the inner workings of a funeral home with Stephanie and Anthony, who just happen to be the world’s peppiest, most loving, and sometimes inappropriate couple.
And Edward Easton will present excerpts from An Act of Endurance, his one-man musical about Ernest Shackleton’s doomed Antarctic expedition, or rather Ed’s struggle with the comedy industry and how hard it was putting a musical on on his own, with some facts about huskies thrown in.
This show was developed as part of the Little Wander/Channel 4/S4C Artist Development Programme.
